Fly

This was a PSA we had to do for Animation II. The theme was "Least" and we could interpret that however we wanted. We submitted them to the Least festival in Illinois.

Clay Lipsync

Another old one. This is one that Leeper shows everyone. He really liked it. We had to make bass relief clay images of ourselves. Then Leeper interviewed us each on crazy relatives. I used replacement mouths, which means every time I had to change the mouth position, I had to cut out the chin and mouth, put the other mouth in, and smooth it over. I also shot in 1s, so that took a LONG time. I also wasn't paying close enough attention, so you can see the jaw slowly get bigger as the clay spread out. Took me 9 hours to shoot.

Tea Serving Robot

Here's an old one for you! This was from 3D I Fall 07, my first class in Maya. I had SO many problems in this class. Never could get the darned thing to animate, so Ballinger let me just show it on the spinning thing. So even though she wouldn't animate, she looks kinda nice.

10 Second Club: Episode 7

OK, so the technical assignment this week was evil twins, but we all came up with our own assignment to add to it: Incorporate Leeper's face into the animation! This was inspired by Cevin's 10 sec club from the week before, where Leeper's head was birthed from an egg. We had some pretty interesting submissions this week!

Business, War, and Dancing

This was actually my final project in my Animation II class Fall semester of 07. We had to choose a quote from a movie, animate it, bring it into ToonBoom with this crazy scanner, then colour it. I don't really like the look of that kind of animation, but it turned out all right. A bunch of us were up all night doing this, cause we'd never been taught this program before we were thrown into it at the end of the semester. Leeper felt bad about how much we were struggling, and he stayed up most of that night with us, and even bought us pizza! I finally got home about 6 in the morning.

Basil and Hazel: Wind Up Tin Toy

The finished product of my wind up toy from my 3D II: Character Design class. I'm really happy with how Basil and Hazel turned out! I really enjoyed texturing them. I find that mapping is really fun, kinda like a puzzle. You have to find out where on the flattened out map of the model will stretch or squish the painting job, then adjust it. The animation isn't too good, but I really think the texturing looks nice.

10 Second Club: Episode 6

Eggs. I had some initial trouble animating the guy, but I really liked his design. At this time I had been very obsessed with the music video by They Might Be Giants, "Bastard Wants to Hit Me." It was done by Laika/house. You should look it up on youTube, it's pretty pimpin. Anyhow, here's mine.

10 Second Club: Episode 5

Here we had to use Peeps! Leeper bought a bunch of boxes of them, and lets just say, most of them were eaten rather than animated with. I think the only ones safe from consumption were those that had clay on them.

I would suggest making sure your volume isn't too loud, cause there's a very piercing part at the end.

10 Second Club: Episode 4

Here we had to use jacks. I wasn't content with the roar at the end, but that's the best I could find on short notice.

10 Second Club: Episode 3

Here we had to use a rope. It was actually a piece of string with florist's wire wound around it for support. It turned out to be too stiff, which made it difficult for us to get it straight to show tension. But I think this one is one of my favorites of all of them, particularly the first portion when he's tugging the rope.

10 Second Club: Episode 2

Here's the second installment! Our props were wooden blocks. I think my little chihuahua really starts to show his personality this go around.
